Mission of the ECEn Shop

The ECEn Shop's mission is to provide resources that will help in providing, sustaining, and supporting the ECEn Dept's objectives in the areas of instruction and research. With the aim to help meet the mission of Brigham Young University in assisting students to instill greater faith in Christ and who have the skills and the desire to continue learning in the development of their intellect.

We will do this by mentoring and directly training our student technicians and assisting our faculty & student customers. We will do this promptly, with efficiency, quality, professionalism, safety and continuous improvement in mind.

Objectives of the ECEn Shop

Help instill faith, virtue and character by living and working as examples of followers of Jesus Christ, continually growing line upon line in academia and work experience.

Help acquire, install & maintain appropriate Lab equipment and facilities,

Maintain an organized inventory of test & other equipment for checkout,

Supply Lab kits for lab courses as specified by our faculty,

Maintain an organized stock of parts & supplies for purchase & checkout,

Assist in acquisition of items not stocked,

Maintain a Database to include our stocked parts & equipment tracking,

Maintain records & tracking of all purchases & Dept equipment,

Provide repair & maintenance for Dept and lab equipment,

Assist faculty & students in the design and building of appropriate projects,

Maintain a Machine Shop for faculty & student project needs & equipment repairs,

Hire, supervise and mentor student shop technicians,

Ensure safety training & compliance of all shop personnel,

Help maintain a safe work environment in all related labs and shop,

and maintain & organize storage areas for Dept equipment needs.
