Inventory is an
important part of any library, but lets
face it, it is also the most boring part
of any library. Wouldn't be great if you
could get a machine to do that for you?
In the Autonomous Library Inventory
System (ALIS) project, we are attempting
to do just that. The main objective in
this project is to produce a
semi-autonomous platform capable of book
recognition, that could be sent through
the aisles of libraries or bookstores to
perform inventory. Through the use of
image thresholding techniques, blob
analysis, pattern recognition, and
optical character verification, we are
trying to give our robot the ability to
read. |
