Background
Prof. Mike Wirthlin received his PhD from BYU in 1997. After
completing his degree, he worked as a staff engineeer in the
Architecture Laboratory at National Semiconductor in Santa Clara,
California. He returned to BYU in 1999 to join the faculty and has
served on the faculty ever since.
Research
Professor Wirthlin's research interests are in the area of
configurable computing with a special interest in high-reliabile
configurable systems and high-level synthesis targeting
application-specific architectures. He has worked on a variety of
projects investigating and demonstrating applications, tools, and
architectures for reconfigurable systems.
Professional
He has been a consultant to both government and industry on
FPGA design, configurable computing and high-reliable configurable
systems. He
is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the IEEE Computer
Society, and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
